Flexibility and Family

“Teaching gives me the freedom and flexibility to spend time with family,” Law professor Toni Asterino, J.D., MSIR explains. But that’s not the only benefit of teaching. “Teaching helped to instill a love of learning in all four of my daughters.”

Asterino not only instills a love of learning in her family but also in her students. Asterino says, “I love the interactions with students and making them excited about learning. I want them to have a positive feeling when they leave class and have something valuable in their toolbelts that they can use in business and their lives.” Asterino teaches a mix of law, entrepreneurship, business law, and in paralegal programs. She shares her experiences, so they understand why topics such as contract law are powerful in real-life situations.

Putting the Getting Started Package to Work

Before she started teaching, Asterino needed the right tools to land the job. “I was fine with my resume but was getting no results. I knew I needed a CV, but I didn’t have time to create it or learn how to do it.” That’s when she reached out to The Babb Group’s Professor Services.

“I noticed The Babb Group was helping people get jobs. I followed their Facebook Group. One day there was a sale, and I decided to do it. I got a job through that. I’m very happy with the results.” Asterino started by talking with Dorothy Miraglia, Ph.D. then, she had a CV created and her LinkedIn profile updated.

“They did a great job with the CV. It was very in-depth and not something I would have put together myself. I have a lot of experience in the areas I want to teach, so they compiled all the classes I’ve taught and all my experience. I would not have taken the time to apply to all the schools. Having them do it for me is well worth the investment. I figured if I got one school, it’s worth it.”

Asterino did a 6-month applications package and got a faculty position she loves. “I’m so thankful! I could not sit and do that. It’s so nice to have someone submit those applications for me. It’s too tedious,” she explains.

Serving Up Success

The Asterinos are a busy family! When she’s not teaching law and parenting, Toni handcrafts turkey and vegan meatballs for hungry market-goers in California for Asterino’s Italian Kitchen. The Asterinos share healthy versions of their family recipes at local farmer’s markets. Balancing these responsibilities makes Professor Services worthwhile to Toni and her husband. “My husband is doing it too! He’s seen the success. He’s getting a CV right now and purchased a package.”

Toni is continuing to use the service, too. “Even though I got a job, I want to continue to submit more applications. It is worth it if you get one job through this. It’s highly likely you’ll get interviews if you’re putting out all of these resumes and applications.”
